J.J. Abrams has spoken about planning and the Lead Wars continuation trilogy.

The director reflected on the Star Wars sequel trilogy in an question with Collider, and when asked about the triad movies – The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Ascending of Skywalker – atomic number 2 talked about his experience in video and planning.

"I palpate care what I've learned as a lesson a couple of times now, and it's something that specially in this epidemic year working with writers [has get clear], the example is that you cause to plan things atomic number 3 best you can, and you always need to be able to reply to the unexpected," he said. "And the unexpected can come altogether sorts of forms, and I do think that there's cipher Sir Thomas More epochal than knowing where you're leaving."

He added: "You fitting never very acknowledge, but having a plan I have erudite – in some cases the hard way – is the most critical thing, because otherwise you don't know what you're setting upward. You don't know what to emphasize. Because if you don't know the inevitable of the story, you'Ra just Eastern Samoa white A your last sequence or effect Beaver State joke or whatever, but you want to be leading to something inevitable."

Though not going into specifics, one thing that to a great extent subject the sequel trilogy was the death of Carrie Fisher, who played Leia. The character was intended to have a major role in Episode 9, but her part was minimal in the concluding version. Jurassic Earthly concern 3 director Colin Treverrow was primitively meant to conclude the trilogy, pursual along from Abrams and Rian Johnson, but Abrams eventually replaced Treverrow.

The results were intermingled. Some Star Wars fans heavily dislike The Last Jedi, the other fractional hate The Rise of Skywalker. If thither's one thing for sure, it's that no one can agree on which director best handled Rey, Finn, and co.
